One plastic bottle (600cc) = carbon savings 25.2g = fuel savings 0.52cc = water savings 88.6cc.
rPET Bags
Because rPET recycled yarn is comfortable, strong, hygroscopic, easy to dye and other characteristics, it is mostly used in the field of leisure sports.
For example,
- Groundtruth, a British startup, made an rPET bag in 2020 from PET plastic from a recycling plant.
- Since 2020, PUMA has partnered with FIRST MILE to recycle PET plastic bottles into running shoes and sportswear.
- Innovative US shoe brand Allbirds can recycle a plastic bottle into a pair of sports shoelaces.
- As for rPET recycled boards, the best known is Danish toy brand LEGO, which last year made its first prototype using PET recycled from discarded bottles.
- Back in 2010, Emeco, an American design furniture brand, launched a Navy Chair made from 111 recycled plastic Coke bottles. The brand followed up in 2019 with the On&On stackable chair collection made from rPET. According to the brand, the chairs can be recycled indefinitely.
