What is essential oil?

Essential oil is a liquid that is distilled (via steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots or other components of plants. Essential oils are a natural way to make your products have aromatic and medicinal properties; they are quickly becoming a source of problems in the packaging industry. Essential oils are a natural way to infuse your products with fragrance and medicinal uniqueness. Essential oil is a concentrated compound extracted from plants. It not only increases the aroma, but also fills your container with aroma. To prevent deterioration and penetration, products containing essential oils must be packaged in correct containers.

Use glass bottles or appropriate aluminum linings to store "pure" essential oils. Pure essential oils are very effective. Care should be taken to ensure that they are stored in airtight containers. All oils have different characteristics, and caution and experimentation should be used to determine which container works best. Most materials recommend the use of glass bottles with airtight lids. Rubber and plastic containers and bottle cap components can be damaged and deteriorated by pure essential oils.

Here we have 9 reasons why you will find it advantageous why the oils packaged in glass.

  • The glass bottle will never degrade. This means that in 10 years, you can expect glass to have the same protective properties as when it first came out. Unlike plastic, which decomposes over time, glass is a timeless material.

  • Glass is natural and recyclable. The glass is made of earth elements (mainly sand) and does not contain any artificial toxins or additives that may damage the quality of the container. Another feature is that glass can be melted, reshaped and reused. This is a big advantage in keeping with the green environment.

  • No chemicals are used in the glass manufacturing process. Glass does not require chemicals to stop its durability. Many containers must use petroleum-based substances to hold the containers together. Glass is a natural substance.

  • The glass bottle will not absorb the smell of essential oils or any other types of content. Unlike other materials, such as plastics that require toxic additives, as time goes by, filtered, glass is pure and impermeable. This makes glass a perfect aseptic environment.

  • Glass is durable and can usually be used in dishwashers. Although not as hard as stone, glass can provide a durable surface that is not affected by the high temperatures used for washing and disinfection. Of course, the melting point can occur, but not in normal household use.

  • The potency of essential oils is preserved with glass. Essential oils are known for their concentrated compounds and can stay fresh for a long time when stored correctly. Glass provides a perfect environment for protecting essential oils from oxygen, which is fatal to this substance.

  • The amber glass bottle can prevent ultraviolet rays from irradiating essential oils. Ultraviolet rays reduce the quality of essential oils, and dark glass is a recommended source to slow down these toxic rays.

  • Glass bottles can protect any possible contamination of essential oils. Degradation of the oil can lead to toxicity and is not suitable for use. Heat and light are the enemies of the chemical composition of essential oils. A sealed glass bottle is a perfect unit to help prevent this from happening. For best results, your oil should always be stored in a cool and dry place.

  • Glass bottles can be stored for decades to extend the shelf life of essential oils. Essential oils can be protected by glass bottles instead of plastic bottles. There is no pollution of leaching, no worry about material decomposition and solid air-tight air, your essential oils remain fresh and aromatic.

Use plastic bottles or aluminum packaging for products that contain "diluted" essential oils. Plastic containers, especially PET, have been proven to store some products containing essential oils well. In many cases, essential oils are added to lotions or other products. For example, when mixed with lotions, the effectiveness of essential oils is diluted. Its ability to infuse the lotion with fragrance has not diminished, but its ability to destroy plastics and rubber has diminished. For products containing pure essential oils and diluted essential oils, aluminum containers that are lined and handled properly are also a good choice.
For some products, PET may also be an excellent substitute for glass. It is cheaper than similar glass containers, lighter than glass, and has a better recycling effect. PET bottles and cans may be a good choice for storing products containing essential oils because of its high level of resistance to penetration.

Containers and packaging do not assume any responsibility for any suitable container or closed customer's special use. It is the customer's responsibility to conduct product compatibility testing on the container and envelope selected by the customer.
